Outstanding Teaching for Learning Overview

 

 

The ethos of the Outstanding Teaching for Learning Course is one of continuous self-reflection and self-improvement; where teachers are encouraged to take risks, explore new methods, share ideas and commit to changing their practice in the classroom.

Course Aims

 

 

To focus on the knowledge,understanding and skills that make teaching and learning in the classroom consistently outstanding.

To use a range of professional development strategies to improve teaching and learning, including coaching, mentoring, team teaching, the observation of colleagues and self-reflection.

To promote a change in classroom practice by developing professional learning on how to implement improvements.

To enhance the quality and consistency of teaching, so that student learning is improved.

Developing Teaching for Learning Overview

 

 

Providing teachers with in-depth coaching tailored to a self-assessment of their own teaching practice. It provides opportunities to deepen their understanding of high quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
The programme is unique in that it provides delegates with the opportunity to observe lessons in different establishments, at different key stages and in different subject areas. Delegates are given the time to discuss, share good practise and evaluate.

Course Aims

 

 

To introduce and consolidate new knowledge and skills, and focus on what makes teaching and learning consistently good.

Participants to improve their teaching through facilitated practice, observation of colleagues and working with students.

Support a wider range of teaching activities including: planning sessions, starter activities, plenary sessions, questioning techniques, engaging in learning, challenging learning, assessment and differentiation strategies.

Supports the aims and implementation of school improvement plans.

Forms part of the professional development provision or staff development within the school’s improvement plan.

Builds confidence of staff and supports a positive “can do” attitude.

English Twilight Programme and Maths Twilight Programme supporting GCSE levels 7, 8, 9 and preparing students for A Level.

The programme is free for schools in Doncaster and delivered by New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster on behalf of the Partners in Learning Teaching School Alliance.

This programme will be delivered at Hungerhill School, Doncaster.
